Notice of race for the 2026 sailing short course series.
1. Stewartby Water Sports Club: Sailing Section will be the Organising Authority for the Short Course Series 2026. The dates and scheduled times of the warning signals for all events in this series are stated on the sailing section online calendar at www.swsc.org.uk.
2. Events are governed by the rules as defined in The Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS).
3. The “SWSC 2026 General Sailing Instructions” and the “Stewartby Water Sports Club: Sailing Section - Rules and Regulations” apply to this series. Both of these documents are available to competitors in the resources centre on the club website at www.swsc.org.uk.
4. Racing is open to all full sailing section club members and fleets.
5. Competitors intending to participate shall enter in accordance with the standard entry procedures defined in the SWSC General Sailing Instructions.
6.1 Schedule and Time Limit: There are 3 short course events scheduled. 4 races of roughly 15 minutes each are scheduled for each event, sailed back-to-back. To maintain a 1-hour format, no warning signal will be made more than 1 hour after the first warning signal of the day.
6.2 Minimum Races and Scoring (No Discards): 1 race is required to be completed to constitute a valid series. Each event will be scored using the Low Point System. RRS A2.1 is changed so that a boat’s series score will be the total of her race scores with no scores excluded (no discards). The finishing position from each event will be used to score the overall main series.
6.3 Tie-Breaker: RRS A8 is changed so that if there is a series-score tie between two or more boats, they shall be ranked in order of their scores in the final race of that event.
6.4 The Course: The course to be sailed will be the RYA course L Windward/Leeward defined with 2 laps (L2). The mark rounding order shall be: Start – 1p – 2s/2p – 1p – Finish. SWSC General SI 8.2 is deleted for this event; boats are not required to sail through the start/finish line at the end of each lap. A diagram of the course is provided in Appendix 1.
