Angling matches

Three annual angling matches with a peaceful, undisturbed lake.

VE Day Match

Our spring match offers varied coarse fishing as the water warms and fish become more active ahead of spawning.

What to expect:

  • Bream, roach, skimmers, perch, and the chance of early-season tench.
  • Fish often move into shallower areas as temperatures rise.

Seasonal notes:

  • Roach and perch spawn April–May.
  • Bream and tench tend to spawn late May into early July.
  • This timing means you’ll often see classic pre-spawn feeding behaviour and good weights.

summer cup match

Our late-summer Course Match is a great all-round event with plenty of feeding activity as fish settle after the spawning season.

What to expect:

  • Mixed species: bream, roach, skimmers, perch, and occasional tench.
  • Fish are normally spread across the lake, with bream shoals often in deeper water.
  • Stable September conditions usually make for steady bites throughout the day.

Seasonal notes:

  • Most coarse species finish spawning by late June, so by September they are fully recovered and lively.
  • Cooler mornings and warmer afternoons can shift feeding depth — stay adaptable.

winter predator match

As temperatures drop, the predator fishing comes into its own. Clearer water and tight baitfish shoals make this a rewarding event for lure and deadbait anglers.

Target species:

  • Pike (most common catch)
  • Perch
  • Zander (less common but possible)

What to expect:

  • Pike feed hard in colder water and respond well to both static and mobile approaches.
  • Perch shoals group tightly around structure, ledges and the deeper margins.

Seasonal notes:

  • Pike spawn early (Feb–March), so they are in peak condition by winter.
  • Perch typically spawn in April–May, making winter fish well-conditioned and active.
