Immersion Training and the Shallow Water Dive Course are mandatory for competitors entering capsule-equipped racing classes such as F4, F2 and F1. These courses ensure drivers can safely exit a submerged cockpit and remain calm and controlled during underwater emergencies.
The training covers breath-hold techniques, controlled immersion, capsule exit procedures, equipment familiarity and how to respond safely if a boat overturns or becomes submerged. Drivers practise escaping from underwater in a supervised environment to build confidence and competence.
SWDC extends this by focusing on shallow-water diving skills, underwater orientation and safe ascent techniques, giving drivers the ability to manage real-world scenarios under pressure.
Together, Immersion Training and SWDC are essential prerequisites for obtaining a Capsule Licence, ensuring every capsule-class driver can respond safely and effectively in emergency situations.
