Learning to Sail
Stewartby Water Sports Club Sailing School is an RYA recognised training centre. Learn to sail with RYA qualified instructors who aim to deliver your course to the highest standards and make it an enjoyable and satisfying experience. The 200 acre Stewartby lake is one of the largest stretches of water in the area surrounded by the Marston Vale Forest Park.
The school offers both the adult scheme and the junior scheme. One to one tuition is also available, as is own boat tuition.This year we have also introduced Start Racing and Sailing With Spinnakers courses.
The school has a range of modern boats for tuition which are also available for your use during your first year of membership, if you join the club as a member! We can supply you with all the equipment you will need to start sailing. The club has great facilities with showers, changing rooms, wet classrooms, a galley (kitchen) is generally available during the summer months. We even have a bar should you feel like celebrating your new qualification!
In addition to sailing courses we offer RYA Powerboat courses as well.

Our instructors are mostly club members, committed to passing on their enthusiasm and knowledge, ensuring that your time with us will be truly rewarding. As we are not a commercial centre, although we publish dates for certain courses to help planning, if you cannot find a suitable date please don't hesitate to call us or send an e mail and we will do our best to accommodate you.

Adult RYA Level 1

2 Day adult courses will cost £160 for non-members and £135 for members.
We also run the following RYA courses, which are run on an on-demand basis:
- Start racing
-Sailing with spinnakers
- Seamanship skills

Junior RYA Courses
16/17th May - Stage 1
12/13th September - Stage 1 and Stage 2 courses
Junior courses will cost £130 for non-members and £110 for members.

RYA Level 2 Powerboat
Our RYA Level 2 powerboat courses will take place on the following dates:
The cost of the course will be £200 for non-members.
MEMBERS SPECIAL OFFER: Members can complete the course free of charge, in exchange for completing an additional 4 duties per year for two years.
RYA Level 3 Safety Boat
Our level 3 safety boat courses will take place on:
MEMBERS SPECIAL OFFER: Members can take the one day course for FREE if they already have their powerboat level 2 certificate, the one day version of this course will be cover how to complete rescue duties at Stewartby. Upon completing the one day members course, members can then chose to pay £75 to complete the second day of the course to gain their RYA level 3 safety boat certificate.
Non-members can book onto the two day RYA Level 3 safety boat course for £150, the second date will be confirmed based on demand and numbers.

Member's direct Powerboat Level 2 assessments
Direct assessments for powerboat level 2 will take place on the 21st March 2020, additional dates may be added based upon demand. This course is aimed at anyone who drives a powerboat at Stewartby regularly but does not have a powerboat certificate. Members can take the direct assessment for free in order to gain their level 2 certificate.
