RYA Powerboat Level 1 Start Powerboating - £150pp

The 1-day RYA Powerboat Level 1 Course provides an introduction to powerboating, techniques for launching and recovery, everyday boat handling and the use of safety equipment.

This is a great course as a powerboat taster or if you are not sure if you would like to commit to a powerboat level 2 course (though this is NOT a requirement before taking Powerboat level 2). It is also a perfect course for those that crew on a powerboat or for children.

Pre-Requisites:

Previous Experience: None

Minimum Age: 8 years: where a candidate is U16 they must attend a course with a parent or guardian (those aged between 8-11 years will receive an endorsed certificate).

Student Ratio: Maximum 3 students per instructor / boat

RYA Powerboat Level 1 Course Syllabus:

  • Launching & Recovery
  • Preparation of boat and crew
  • Boat handling at low speed
  • Picking up and securing to a mooring buoy
  • Leaving and coming alongside
  • Being towed
  • IRPCS (rules of the road)
  • Man Overboard Recovery

RYA Powerboat Level 2 Boat Handling - £200pp

The 2-day RYA Powerboat Level 2 Course is the perfect course for you whether you have no previous experience or have been powerboating for a while and want to brush up your skills. An added bonus is if you want the option to hire or use a powerboat whilst you're on holiday in Europe you can also gain the International Certificate of Competence (I.C.C.). If you're looking at using this certificate for work, then you can also move towards gaining the RYA Powerboat Level 2 Commercial Endorsement.

Pre-Requisites:

Previous Experience: None

Minimum Age: 12 years: where a student is U16 they must attend a course with a parent or guardian (those aged between 12-16 years will receive an endorsed certificate).

Student Ratio: Maximum 3 students per instructor / boat

RYA Powerboat Level 2 Course Syllabus:

  • Launching & recovery
  • Boat handling at low & higher speed
  • Securing to a buoy
  • Man overboard recovery techniques
  • Anchoring
  • Leaving & coming alongside (marina handling)
  • Turning in a confined space
  • Basic Navigation & passage planning
  • IRPCS (rules of the road)
  • Weather & Tides
