To all Sailing Section Members,

I am writing to give notice and request your presence at the 2022 AGM of the Sailing Section of SWSC. The AGM will be held at the clubhouse on Sunday the 27th February 2022 at 2:30pm. Unless COVID-19 rules change, we are not currently proposing to hold the AGM virtually.

The Sailing Section AGM is one of your opportunities to have your say and get involved in how the Sailing Section of SWSC is run. As a valued member of our club, it would be great to see you there and for you to have your voice heard. Both the bar and the galley will be open for light refreshments during the AGM.

Each ordinary member and adult family member is eligible to vote on any new officers, committee members, rule suggestions, and any other business that is raised during the AGM. Junior and student members do not have voting rights at an AGM.

Key dates and how to get involved

You do not need to tell us if you intend to attend the AGM (although you will be required to sign in on arrival). If you are unable to attend and would like to send your apologies, please email secretary@swsc.org.uk. Please see below for details of how to contribute to the AGM:

  • To propose any changes to the current section rules, you must send these, including the name of a member who has agreed to second the proposed change, to secretary@swsc.org.uk by the 30th January 2022
  • To propose any new officers, committee members, or management representatives you must send these by completing the online nomination forms, to secretary@swsc.org.uk by the 13th February 2022.
  • To propose an item for the agenda of the AGM, please send this to secretary@swsc.org.uk by the 13th February 2022

Please also ensure you have read the minutes from the 2021 AGM as these will be approved at the 2022 AGM.

The provisional agenda, current rules and regulations, minutes from the 2021 AGM, and nomination forms for officers, committee members, and management representatives, can be found under the AGM calendar entry on the SWSC.org.uk website here. As this is a members-only event, you must be logged into the portal to view and access this event and associated documents. Alternatively, please email secretary@swsc.org.uk to request these. We will also be providing paper copies of these at the clubhouse as soon as possible.

After the 13th February, a final agenda shall be produced which will include any proposals submitted.

Current officer and committee roles

You can view your current committee on the SWSC.org.uk website here.

All current officers (Commodore, Vice-Commodore, Secretary, and Treasurer) must be re-elected each year.

All current committee members have agreed that they are happy to continue in their current roles and this will be voted upon at the AGM. However, if you would like to volunteer to be a part of the committee, please do not let this stop you! Our Duty Manager role is currently vacant so we would welcome any interest from members who would like to help support the running of the club in this important role. The Duty Manager is responsible for maintaining and managing the members online duty roster and ensuring sufficient cover is maintained to ensure the smooth and safe running of racing and other section events.

We look forward to seeing you at the AGM. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact us at secretary@swsc.org.uk. We will release any further details required for the AGM in February.

Kind regards,

Your Sailing Section Committee
