Sailing Working Party - 23rd Feb

Published 09:40 on 16 Feb 2025
As is traditional, on the Sunday of the AGM, this year held on the 23rd February, morning racing is replaced with the first Working Party of the year. This working party sets the section up for the rest of the year, with it being the first opportunity to review the boats and assets across the club.
We have a number of jobs to complete and are looking for volunteers to help support! The list of jobs and equipment to bring along with you includes:
- Lift the black jetty matting and check number and location of the cells that are split / damaged. This will need cordless screwguns with PZ3 bits.
- Clear gravel that has been washed up onto the path from the Cat beach - this can be used in the next activity.
- Replace the clogged gravel in the drainage grids in the aisles. This is the same exercise that is complete on the main run (that runs along the top of the slipway) but we need to extend this up the aisles. Both spades and shovels needed for this.
- Tidy and clear area at the back of container
- Move the pile of Type 1 to the space between the container and garage.
- Inspect container for rust points - paint scrapers and step ladders needed.
- Screw down anchor points within the dinghy park where required
- Sail numbers to be applied to the new PICO sails
- Untangling a big bundle of rope and setting on a roll!
We aim to gather in the clubhouse from 10am for tea/coffee and to organise who will be able to support with the above tasks, with the aim to be out for 10:30am. A free hot lunch will be provided for all those volunteering their time.
If you are able to support, including if you are happy to lead one of the above tasks, please let Mark Patten know by replying to the recent email sent, sending a message via text/WhatsApp, or responding to the WhatsApp community post. This also helps us cater for the right number of people.
We hope that those joining us will be able to stay to participate in the AGM which will be starting at 2:30pm.
Kind regards,
Sailing Bosuns
