Published 22:25 on 13 Jan 2025
Members have now had formal notice for the 2025 AGM of the Sailing Section of SWSC. The AGM will be held at the clubhouse on Sunday the 23rd February 2025 at 2:30pm.
The Sailing Section AGM is one of your opportunities to have your say and get involved in how the Sailing Section of SWSC is run. As a valued member of our club, it would be great to see you there and for you to have your voice heard. Both the bar and the galley will be open for light refreshments during the AGM. If you plan to attend the working party in the morning (details to be released soon), a lunch will also be provided.
Each ordinary member and adult family member is eligible to vote on any new officers, committee members, rule suggestions, and any other business that is raised during the AGM. Junior and student members do not have voting rights at an AGM.
Key dates and how to get involved
You do not need to tell us if you intend to attend the AGM (although you will be required to sign in on arrival). If you are unable to attend and would like to send your apologies, please email sailing.secretary@stewartbywatersportsclub.co.uk. Please see below for details of how to contribute to the AGM:
- To propose any amendments to the current Sailing Section Rules, you must send these to sailing.secretary@stewartbywatersportsclub.co.uk by the 26th January 2025

Please also ensure you have read the minutes from the 2024 AGM as these will be approved at the 2025 AGM.
The provisional agenda, current rules and regulations, and minutes from the 2024 AGM are provided on the online calendar event, which can be accessed below. We will also be providing paper copies of these at the clubhouse as soon as possible.
After the 9th February, a final agenda shall be produced which will include any proposals submitted.
Current officer and committee roles
You can view your current committee on the draft agenda included on the online calendar event.
All current officers (Commodore, Vice-Commodore, Secretary, and Treasurer) must be re-elected each year.
The vast majority of current committee members have agreed that they are happy to continue in their current roles and this will be voted upon at the AGM en-block. New committee members who have been co-opted by the current committee during the course of the year will also need to be individually voted in at the AGM. However, the positions below are being or have been vacated so are open for nominations:
- Fundraising Coordinator
- Affiliate Group Liaison
The role descriptions for these are included on the online calendar event. This year we are also introducing a new Marketing and Social Media Lead position. The Role Description is yet to be finalised and will be added to the website in due course. However, if you are likely to be interested in this role please reach out.
We look forward to seeing you at the AGM. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact us at sailing.secretary@stewartbywatersportsclub.co.uk. We will release any further details required for the AGM in February.
Kind regards,
Your Sailing Section Committee
