Dear Members,

We am writing to give notice and request your presence at the 2023 AGM of the Sailing Section of SWSC. The AGM will be held at the clubhouse on Sunday the 26th February 2023 at 2:30pm.

The Sailing Section AGM is one of your opportunities to have your say and get involved in how the Sailing Section of SWSC is run. As a valued member of our club, it would be great to see you there and for you to have your voice heard. Both the bar and the galley will be open for light refreshments during the AGM. If you plan to attend the working party in the morning (details to be released soon), a lunch will also be provided.

Each ordinary member and adult family member is eligible to vote on any new officers, committee members, rule suggestions, and any other business that is raised during the AGM. Junior and student members do not have voting rights at an AGM.

Key dates and how to get involved

You do not need to tell us if you intend to attend the AGM (although you will be required to sign in on arrival). If you are unable to attend and would like to send your apologies, please email secretary@swsc.org.uk. Please see below for details of how to contribute to the AGM:

  • To propose and second any new officers, committee members, or management representatives you must send these to secretary@swsc.org.uk by the 12th February 2023.
  • To propose an item for the agenda of the AGM, please send this to secretary@swsc.org.uk by the 12th February 2023.

Please also ensure you have read the minutes from the 2022 AGM as these will be approved at the 2023 AGM.

The provisional agenda, current rules and regulations, and minutes from the 2022 AGM can be found under the AGM calendar entry on the SWSC.org.uk website here. As this is a members-only event, you must be logged into the portal to view and access this event and associated documents. Alternatively, please email secretary@swsc.org.uk to request these. We will also be providing paper copies of these at the clubhouse as soon as possible.

After the 12th February, a final agenda shall be produced which will include any proposals submitted.

Current officer and committee roles

You can view your current committee on the draft agenda linked above.

All current officers (Commodore, Vice-Commodore, Secretary, and Treasurer) must be re-elected each year.

The vast majority of current committee members have agreed that they are happy to continue in their current roles and this will be voted upon at the AGM en-block. New committee members who have been co-opted by the current committee during the course of the year will also need to be individually voted in at the AGM. However, the positions below are being vacated so are open for nominations:

  • Boat Bosun - responsible for upkeep and maintenance of the club fleet. Please speak to outgoing Boat Bosun, Dave Grummitt, for more information.
  • Duty Manager - responsible for managing the duty roster for Spring/Summer racing. Please speak to outgoing Duty Manager, Ian Pasquet, for more information.

We look forward to seeing you at the AGM. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact us at secretary@swsc.org.uk. We will release any further details required for the AGM in February.

Kind regards,

Your Sailing Section Committee
