Notice of Race: Multi Format Series

This event occupies three summer weekends and gives competitors the opportunity to compete in three disciplines to provide the winner of the Multi-format series.

The three disciplines are Short Course, Double-Hander and Pursuit.

There is no limitation as to who can compete. An individual does not require a double hander to compete as they will be able to enter as a crew member. Club double-handers will also be available.

On each of the weekends, two of the three disciplines will be sailed:

    Weekend 1: Short Course + Pursuit.

    Weekend 2: Pursuit + Double-Hander

    Weekend 3: Short Course + Double-Hander

The double handed competition: will always be run as an afternoon race starting at 14.30 - allowing time for helms with double handed boats to register and for crews to be drawn from a hat.

Scoring: Both helm and crew will be awarded points for their finishing position. So winning helm and crew will each receive 1 point. The helm and crew coming second will each receive 2 points etc. 

Short Course competition: Each session of (usually) 4 races will constitute a series. Points are awarded for position in series. No discards.

Pursuit competition: This a race in which boats with a slow handicap will start first to be pursued by faster boats. We aim for the slowest boat to be racing for about 75 minutes and the fastest boats for about 45 minutes. Starting times will be determined and published on the day. Points will be awarded for position on the water at the end of the race.

The overall Multi Format winner will be based upon each competitor's best 5 of 6 results. If any events are cancelled, then it will be (events - 1).

If there is a tie, the result will be determined by position in the final Short Course event.
