Sailing at Stewartby Water

449153 1424x

The sport of sailing can be enjoyed for its own sake, at Stewartby we have a large expanse of water for members to enjoy recreational sailing, with rescue boat cover on Sundays, and in the summer Saturday afternoons and Wednesday evenings. Sailing at other times is available on the lake, but we do encourage two boats on the water or at least someone on shore, just in case!

Dinghy racing provides an additional dimension where competition among other sailors brings its own rewards and improves boat handling.

At Stewartby we offer sailors of both dinghies and catamarans excellent racing opportunities on an average of 50 weekends of the year. During the summer months, Wednesday night sailing offers members the chance to get afloat after a long day at work, in the office or at school.

We provide primarily Handicap Racing through the RYA's Portsmouth Yardstick Scheme (YR2) but also support class racing with many popular classes at the club hosting annual Open Meetings.

If you want to improve your skills then race coaching is available for both adults and juniors and is provided through a joint venture between the Racing Coordinator and the Sailing School. We have several fully qualified racing coaches and race management officials at the club who ensure that we continue to provide the best dinghy racing in the area.
