Re-opening of the Sailing Section (v2)

Sailing Re-opening

You will have received a notification from SWSC Management Team outlining the re-opening of our club.

David Coulson (Commodore) and Thurstan Ollerearnshaw (Health & Safety Officer and COVID-19 Officer) along with the Management team have worked very hard putting together a COVID-19 Pack outlining what the sailing section guidelines.

Please could you read through these documents and adhere to all the guidelines at all times. Further guidance will be sent out to our members when new information from the Government and RYA is announced.

There will be no rescue/safety boat cover at the moment, but there will be a member of Management and/or OOD to keep an eye on safety as per the plan.

Summary of re-opening as per SWSC Managements Club Notice 15.05.2020:

Sailing: can commence from Saturday 16th May on the following basis:

Only competent sailors in privately owned craft are allowed (club sailing boats are not permitted to be used).

Sailing is subject to the conditions and your ability to sail safely on your own.

There will be no organised racing or other events, youth squad, training or races, at present.

Double hander boats are permitted if sailing with a member of your household as crew.

We are now able to open the Club for use by the sections however the clubhouse, changing rooms and Showers will remain closed.

Toilets will be open from Friday 15th May but with strict guidelines in place. SWSC will supply hand sanitiser and anti-bacterial wipes in these locations.

Children under the age of 12 must be accompanied by an adult at all times.

Guests may not be admitted at this stage.

The Carpark is open and members are reminded to maintain safe distancing of 2m between cars as far as possible.

Do not congregate in groups, even if observing social distancing.

Social distancing (of at least 2 metres) should be strictly observed at all times.
