A fine day, with a decent fresh breeze, enabled 17 boats to take to the water in 2009’s Boxing Day Hangover Race. The 5 degree temperature was a warm surprise given the snow and ice of the preceding weeks.
Results and photographs of the event are available on the website.
Thanks must go to Nigel Denchfield (Race Officer) along with Nick Jones & Chris Janes who manned the support boat. In the clubhouse was Dave Smith who served 3 delicious soups after racing. He was assisted by Ruth Ivory and Gerry Howcroft manned the Bar.
The day started with a bump for Harry Janes who slipped badly on a very icy dinghy park and had to be taken to hospital for a check-up
Winning the event for the third year in a row was Simon Miles. Second was Sally Denchfield with (seldom seen) Martyn Denchfield making a welcome return as Sally’s crew. Barney Proud sailing a newly refurbished club Topper came in third
Racing continues on January 9th.
