After 10 years of Yellow and Terracotta, the clubhouse has been completely redecorated over the weekend of 30th & 31st January. Both days were well supported by members and a great deal was achieved in a surprisingly short period of time. A small amount of work remains for the February working party but overall our plans were achieved.

The Wednesday night social evening planned for this week (13th January) has been postponed due to the ongoing icy conditions. With many members travelling a some distance to the club we felt it was better to postpone than have people returning home in sub-zero temperatures.
The planned “Rules & Seamanship” quiz will now take place on Wednesday 10th February.

Andrew Gregory writes: The event comprises 2 handicap races for dinghies and catamarans, split into four separate fleets, based on the handicap numbers of their craft. This year the entry was down on the normal 200 boats mainly due to the recent snow and continuing wintry weather.
The forecasted wind of 15-20 knots combined with sub zero temperatures meant it was certainly not a day to capsize. The Stewartby contingent included Paul & Nicola Griffiths in their RS400, me in my Phantom, and Barney Proud sailing with Howard Astley Jones from Milton Keynes Sailing Club in a Taser.

A fine day, with a decent fresh breeze, enabled 17 boats to take to the water in 2009’s Boxing Day Hangover Race. The 5 degree temperature was a warm surprise given the snow and ice of the preceding weeks.
Results and photographs of the event are available on the website.
