The club diary is almost ready for publishing. In fact, we’re able to announce the full list of all of of the Club Championship dates and open meetings for 2010. You will need to read the full article for the dates for your class. Experienced Race Officers are invited to apply to run these events.

Rescheduling of Icicle Wk 1 Races

Racing didn’t take place on Sunday 10th January due to the snow and ice. Races 1 and 2 of the Icicle Series will be rescheduled as follow.

Race 1: Will take place on Sunday 14th March at 3.00 pm.
Race 2: Will take place on Sunday 21st March at 3.00 pm.

2009 Grafham Grand Prix: December 27th.

Andrew Gregory writes: The event comprises 2 handicap races for dinghies and catamarans, split into four separate fleets, based on the handicap numbers of their craft. This year the entry was down on the normal 200 boats mainly due to the recent snow and continuing wintry weather.

Boxing Day Hangover Race

A fine day, with a decent fresh breeze, enabled 17 boats to take to the water in 2009’s Boxing Day Hangover Race. The 5 degree temperature was a warm surprise given the snow and ice of the preceding weeks.

Demonstration Tasar Available

Barney Proud has managed to obtain the Tasar demonstrator which was seen at the club earlier in the year. It is available for Boxing Day, Grafham Grand Prix and possibly for club racing in the early Icicle Series. For more details please contact Barney on 07951 019871.

Stewartby Youth Coaching 2010

Junior Instruction

Saturday Junior Coaching has been a great success this autumn with an average of 12 youngsters each week. Those taking part are seeing improvements to their sailing and some youngsters are progressing quickly towards being capable racers. Phantom Class Guru’s visit Stewartby

Stewartby hosted the final Phantom class training event of 2009 on Saturday 12th December.

Four local boats were joined by visitors from Margate, Oxford, and North London. The training was conducted by current Eastern Area Champion, John Wayling, and former National Champion, Simon Childs.
