Gerry Howcroft has posted a report on this year’s visit to Milton Keynes Sailing Club on February 7th 2010. Along with Simon Witham, the club was represented by the demonstration Tasar which performed well in a strong field. Photographs courtesy of Milton Keynes Sailing Club are also available. Eight boats took the water in conditions much windier than forecast on Sunday 14th February. It was to be a Phantom 1 & 2 with new member Ian Sullivan taking honours in both races. The course and race management was provided by Karl Pountney and support boat by Tim Browning and Duncan Wilson. Thanks also [...] Seven boats headed out in very cold light wind conditions on Sunday 7th February. Dave Harrison and Harry Fiddler set two excellent courses and the racing was close and competitive throughout. In fact, we’re able to announce the full list of all of of the Club Championship dates and open meetings for 2010. You will need to read the full article for the dates for your class. Experienced Race Officers are invited to apply to run these events. The Icicle Series is well underway, however we have a number of gaps in the duty list in the coming weeks. Urgently required is a support boat driver and crew for Sunday 7th February. All members will receive this year’s Duty Request Form shortly along with their membership renewal pack. It is important that you let us know the dates when you will be free to help at the club. Races 1 and 2 of the Icicle Series will be rescheduled as follow. Race 1: Will take place on Sunday 14th March at 3.00 pm. (c) Marcia Carpenter Andrew Gregory writes: The event comprises 2 handicap races for dinghies and catamarans, split into four separate fleets, based on the handicap numbers of their craft. This year the entry was down on the normal 200 boats mainly due to the recent snow and continuing wintry weather. The forecasted wind of 15-20 knots [...] A fine day, with a decent fresh breeze, enabled 17 boats to take to the water in 2009’s Boxing Day Hangover Race. The 5 degree temperature was a warm surprise given the snow and ice of the preceding weeks. Results and photographs of the event are available on the website. |
