With the completion of the A421 dual-carriageway between the M1 Junction 13 and the Marsh Leys interchange south of Kempston, the location page on the website has been updated with new directions to the club.

When giving directions to the club from either the M1 or A1 we recommend that you direct visitors to the Marston Moretaine junction on the A421. This is by far the simplest exit regardless of the direction of travel.

The old A421 road has been retained as a local road from Marston Gate (Amazon Depot) through to Marsh Leys (ASDA Depot) so those approaching from the A507 and via Liddlington, Ridgmont or Woburn (Turnpike Road) can follow the old route to the club.

The club is looking into the viability of running a mark-laying course at the club for members. The course, which is accredited by the RYA is aimed at race officials that are responsible for laying marks for significant dinghy racing events. It is part of a range of courses designed to ensure that clubs and classes can call on trained race officials.
The course would take place sometime over the winter sailing period in time for next year at the club. Theory would cover situations on flat water and tidal, with the practical elements of the course taking place on the water.

If you are interested in this course, or would like further details on the other race official courses (Race Officer or Rules Advisor) please contact race.officials@swsc.org.uk. The date, cost of course and more details will come and is in part dependent on the amount of interest.
