Overview
This year the committee has took the decision to run a 3 day regatta. The idea behind the regatta is to give something back to the members and to encourage family participation. It will be held in the summer over a 3 day period, with as much encouragement for the members to camp over and join in the fun and festivities stretching into the late evenings.
There will be a mixture of fun events for adults and children, BYO BBQ and Hog Roast, music entertainment in the evenings with the Galley providing breakfasts, lunches and afternoon teas on all 3 days. The bar will be open each evening and some lunch times/afternoons, much depends upon volunteers.
There will be a bouncy castle for the youngsters, Topper Football Raft building and Dodge-ball in the evenings.
Support for the ‘on the water’ activities will be by means of a rota, manned by the attendees at the regatta, if anyone would like to volunteer before hand for any duties, please let me know.
There are events laid on for the non-sailors on all 3 days, consisting of organized walks and rambles, with an on and off water bird spotting competition.
All in all we are aiming to get as many members taking part, old and new, with the invitation extending to family members and sailors from other local clubs, If this year is a success, then this could become an annual event for the club.
