Your Membership Explained
Stewartby Water Sports Club is home to Sailing, Angling, Water-skiing and Powerboat racing. Each activity is managed by its own dedicated committee to look after the needs of its ‘section members’ and lay on its own programme of activities.
Overseeing the management of the site, buildings and lake is the Club Management Committee that is made up of members from all sections.
When you pay your membership fee a proportion of the fee is allocated to the sailing section with the remainder going to the management committee to support the maintenance of the club’s infrastructure. The club is a non-profit organisation where all the members subscriptions are used throughout the club to support you and your chosen sport.
We do make a few additional charges:
- When you first join the club a joining fee is charged in your first year. Provided that you maintain your membership this charge will not be made in your second and subsequent years.
- If you wish to keep a boat in the dinghy park then we will make a charge for every boat you keep at the club. Large trailers kept in the main dinghy park will also be charged for. If you keep a boat at home, there is nothing to pay.
- If you want to learn to sail or improve your skills then additional fees will be payable for the courses you take. As a member these courses are discounted. If you take a course and join the club at the same time your membership and course fees will be clearly set out for you by the Sailing School Principal.
- We may make an additional charge for social events, some racing events and any club merchandise (clothing, sailing books, etc.) but only to cover the additional costs.
